How it works

You ask in the ChatGPT or Claude app on your phone.
The AI app decides to use a tool and calls heyatu.com/mcp from its cloud.
Our relay passes the call to your computer, over a connection that the computer opened. Nothing connects in from outside.
Hey Atu runs the tool on the computer and sends the result back.
The AI app writes the answer in your chat.

Before you rely on it

Keep the computer on and online. On a Mac, Hey Atu stops idle sleep while it runs; closing the lid still sleeps the computer. While it sleeps, your AI app shows an error.
Each request runs while you chat. A tool call has about 3 minutes. For a longer job, ask the AI to start it in the background and check later.
Calls from AI apps are not end-to-end encrypted. The AI app’s cloud reads them; our relay forwards them without storing them. See Security.
Mac and Linux only. Windows is not supported yet.

Set it up

Follow the steps for your AI app: ChatGPT or Claude. Both take about 5 minutes on the computer. A Hey Atu iPhone app, with Chats, To-do, Updates and Wiki, is coming soon.

Questions

Can I control my computer from my phone without remote desktop?

Yes, for work that uses files and commands. Ask ChatGPT or Claude on your phone, and Hey Atu does the task on the computer. It does not show or control the screen.

Does it work on mobile data, away from home?

Yes. The computer connects out to our relay, so it does not matter which network the phone uses. You do not need a VPN or Tailscale.

Which phones work?

Any phone with the ChatGPT or Claude app. We test with the iPhone apps.

Does it keep working after I close the chat?

No. Each request runs while the AI app waits for the answer. A job that you started in the background keeps running on the computer.

Is it safe to let AI control my computer?

It gives the AI app real access: commands run with your user account’s permissions. Hey Atu asks you to approve each app and lets you stop all of them at once. Read Security before you start.
